“plisky” (Scottish, obsolete)
noun (plural: “pliskies”)
1. a mischievous trick; practical joke.
adjective (alternate form: “pliskie”)
2. mischievous; playful.
These are my pliskies: cartoon tricksters, somewhere between clowns, faeries, and aliens. They’re recognizable by their many S-curves and their slyly-smiling, mask-like, often heart-shaped faces. As liminal creatures, they like to dwell at thresholds and transitions, and to act with levity as heralds of change and coincidence. Abstract, illogical, and unknowable, they are to be neither trusted, feared, nor ignored.
They are first and foremost doodles, created subconsciously, and exist only in relation to others. Thus, few are original, and most are inspired by or stolen from the art of others.
